About the scheme
What is the Buy with Confidence scheme?
In response to concerns about ‘rogue traders’ which are often highlighted in the media, a partnership of Local Authority Trading Standards Services took the ground-breaking step of putting together the Buy with Confidence scheme. The scheme provides consumers with a list of local businesses which have given their commitment to trading fairly. Every business listed has undergone a series of detailed checks before being approved as a member of the scheme.
Buy with Confidence is the largest scheme of its kind nationally and continues to expand its geographical coverage. You can check whether your local area is participating by checking their list of participating local authorities.
The Buy with Confidence scheme is administered by Local Authority Trading Standards Services directly and is not outsourced.

How Can I Find Buy With Confidence Members In My Area?

Enter your postcode
On the Find a Business page, type in your postcode and select the business type you want e.g., ‘Building Contractors’.

Search the results
Press ‘Search’ and a list of businesses will appear. From this list you can review business profile pages, read customer reviews, find their location with the interactive map, send the businesses an email and download the list to a pdf so you can print it off for future reference or to share with others.

Search by trade or company name
If you are unsure of what category a business might come under search ‘By Trade’ or, if you know a company’s name, you can use the A-to-Z search facility.
