Safety follows the movement

A moving worktop creates different risks from a fixed one

A height-adjustable work surface changes its relationship with the furniture, appliances and objects around it every time it moves.

Granberg therefore uses several different forms of protection. Some components physically close a gap. Others detect contact and stop or reverse movement. A stroke limiter can prevent the lift entering part of its normal travel range altogether.

The right combination depends on the exact lifting system and the surrounding kitchen. Safety accessories should therefore be planned with the worktop, cabinets, hob and adjacent furniture rather than treated as an afterthought.

Understand what each product is doing

Passive protection, active safety and programmed limits

These products may all appear under the heading “safety”, but mechanically they solve very different problems.

01

Passive protection

A physical panel covers or encloses an area that would otherwise become exposed as the worktop moves. The component does not need to sense an obstruction; its job is to remove or shield the opening.

Example: Baselift left and right side safety panels.
02

Contact-sensitive protection

Safety strips and trip plates form part of the lift's control system. Contact with an obstruction activates the safety mechanism so movement does not simply continue against the object.

Examples: Baselift side stop strips and the safety plates beneath Sidelift / Centerlift hanging cabinets.
03

Travel limiting

Instead of waiting for contact, the permitted movement itself can be reduced. Upper and lower limits can be programmed around fixed features in the kitchen.

Example: 61400 stroke-limiter programming system.

Baselift & moving worktop protection

Protect the sides and underside of the moving worktop

Side panels and safety strips solve two different problems around an adjustable worktop. The correct solution depends on what sits beside or beneath the moving surface.

Physical side protection

Baselift side safety panels

Where the moving worktop can rise above adjoining furniture, a side panel covers the changing gap between the end of the lift and the furniture below. The panels are handed left or right and differ according to whether motor cover panels are fitted.

Side safety stop strips

A compressible safety strip adds active contact detection to the side of a compatible lifting system. If it encounters an obstruction, the safety circuit responds rather than allowing normal movement to continue.

510mm 61432 is the separate unhanded strip for Baselift 6600.
Concept only: the blue panel represents the physical protection covering the changing side gap.

Why the side matters

The gap changes as the worktop rises

A worktop positioned beside fixed furniture can expose a vertical opening as it moves. The required protection depends on the lift, the adjacent furniture and whether cover panels are fitted.

Side panels are passive They physically cover the opening beside the lift.
Safety strips are active They form part of an obstruction-detection system.
The lift model matters Baselift 6600 uses a different side-strip format from the 6300 / 6310 family.

Protection beneath cooking equipment

Create a smoother protected underside beneath the hob

Granberg's 6266 protective plate fits below compatible worktop-lift and Centerlift 6490H installations. It protects against heat radiation from a cooking hob and provides a smooth enclosed surface beneath the compartment frame.

It can also be used beneath drawers, making it useful where the underside of the moving worktop needs to be enclosed rather than leaving internal components exposed.

Sidelift 6400 & Centerlift 6490H

When the cabinet moves with the worktop, protect beneath it

Hanging cabinets create useful storage beneath a moving Sidelift or Centerlift, but their underside also becomes part of the moving assembly. Granberg safety plates add contact protection beneath those cabinets.

When the underside safety plate contacts an obstruction, its micro-switches activate and the lifting system responds.

Ready-made safety plates

Match the plate to the hanging-cabinet width

Granberg's standard safety plates are 466mm deep, 12mm thick and finished in white painted MDF. Six widths correspond with common hanging-cabinet sizes.

Ready-made white safety plate

Choose the plate that matches the hanging-cabinet width. The complete panel is supplied ready for installation beneath the compatible Sidelift 6400 or Centerlift 6490H cabinet.

Make the safety plate match the kitchen

The custom package supplies the micro-switches, cables and milling instructions so a suitable board can be produced in the kitchen finish rather than using the standard white plate.

Reprogramme the permitted upper and lower travel

The stroke-limiter system is useful where the normal travel of a compatible lift would conflict with a fixed feature, or where the usable height range needs to be coordinated with the rest of the kitchen.

01

Connect the programmer

The reusable digital programming box connects to the compatible lifting-system control arrangement.

02

Set the permitted limits

Programme the required upper limit, lower limit or both so the moving surface no longer uses its entire original travel.

03

Leave the memory adapter

The programmer is removed for reuse. The memory adapter remains connected to the individual lift so its programmed limits are retained.

61400

Programmer Starter Set

Reusable stroke-limiter programming box supplied with one memory adapter. Compatible with specified Baselift, Sidelift and Centerlift 6490 systems.

61401

Additional Memory Adapter

Add one for each additional compatible lifting system whose programmed upper or lower travel limits need to be retained.

Before choosing the safety components

Start with the exact lift and everything around it

Compatibility and risk depend on the complete installation, not simply the name of the accessory.

01

Identify the lift model

Confirm the exact Baselift, Plusmodule, Sidelift or Centerlift model before choosing a safety component.

02

Check both sides

Look at walls, tall units, base furniture and loose objects beside each end of the moving worktop.

03

Confirm cover-panel use

Baselift side safety-panel depth changes according to whether motor cover panels are fitted.

04

Check beneath the surface

Hobs, drawers and suspended cabinets change what sits within the movement zone below the worktop.

05

Map fixed obstructions

Window cills and other fixed features may make a programmed upper or lower limit useful.

06

Test after installation

Safety functions should be commissioned and checked as part of the completed lifting-system installation.
