The grate can be part of the wetroom design

Once floor compatibility is established, the grate becomes one of the small details that can substantially change the finished look of the wetroom.

Round or square: the correct shape is determined partly by the drain system and partly by the chosen floor finish.

Plastic or metal: practical plastic covers sit alongside stainless-steel and premium decorative alternatives.

Pattern and colour: current ranges include several grate designs and metallic or darker architectural finishes.

Security requirement

Sometimes the grate needs to stay secured

Security fittings change a removable drain cover into a controlled-access component. They can help prevent casual, unauthorised or unwanted removal while still permitting planned maintenance.

Security screws: selected Purus grates and drains can be secured using dedicated locking fixings.

Lockable stainless grates: selected designs incorporate pre-drilled fixing points and retaining brackets.

Compatibility still matters: the security fitting must match the particular grate and drain family being used.

Before ordering

A grate is only one part of the waste assembly

Two grates can look similar from above but fit completely different drains. Check the existing or proposed waste before choosing purely by appearance.

Floor finish Confirm whether the installation is vinyl, tiled or microcement.

Drain family Identify the manufacturer and waste model that sits below the grate.

Diameter & shape Check the required round or square format and exact dimensions.

Maintenance access The grate should remain removable or appropriately releasable for access to the waste and trap.

Do not select by appearance alone. A decorative or security grate must be confirmed as compatible with the drain, floor-finish interface and any associated tile adapter, clamping ring or fixing system.
